Do you ever come to the end of the month and think...OK...a new month, let's make some changes...
Let's start that work out routine.
Let's start a gratitude journal.
Let's start to eat healthier.
Let's become more organized.
Let's manage our time better.
Let's close more deals.
...YEAH, ME TOO!
And as I sit here to write this, so much of me is wishing that we can start April "as it used to be" before social distancing...but I also came to realize, as I choose to look at it from a different energy, that during this time we have experienced lessons, emotions, helping others, making of new memories and have given more family hugs to each other than ever (which is a lot to begin with). So much GRATITUDE and POSITIVITY has come out of being a #workingfromhomefulltimeleaderemployeemomteacherwifechefmaidandalltherest.
This time we have been able to watch our 7 year old ride off into the sunset on her bike WITHOUT training wheels! We have been able to witness our 3 year old actually read the word DAD off of a page she'd never seen before. These things I would not change for the world. This is all happening for a reason, and if you take a step back and shift your vision just the slightest, you will see things that you may not have if circumstances were different.
We are all constantly at different energy levels throughout the course of our days - from how you show up as a person to how you show up under stressful “life” situations. There are many factors that add to the ebb and flow of our energy - from internal thoughts, assumptions, limitations or gremlins that speak to us, to external factors that are out of our control. The ticket is that it’s YOUR CHOICE as to how you react/respond, channel your energy, or shift your mindset in order to keep calm, present and focused on being your true YOU.
You rise in the morning…
You spill your tea all over a brand new laptop…
You close a deal that you’ve been working on for months…
You are filled with anxiety trying to manage work, home schooling and just staying safe…
Make sense?!
So, what exactly is ENERGY??? All people are continually experiencing energy, in one of two ways: catabolic or anabolic energy.
Anabolic energy:
constructive
expanding
fueling
healing,
growth-oriented; it releases endorphins.
Anabolic energy helps you move forward and achieve long-term goals, achieve successful results on your projects, and is critical in leading others in the same direction.
Catabolic Energy:
contracting
draining
results in a low ability to resolve conflict.
It is the type of energy that is present in our fight or flight response and is typically associated with hormones like adrenaline and cortisol.
The type of energy we experience fluctuates throughout the day and within many different situations. However, because of our attitude and habits, we wind up experiencing the same type of energy over and over again.
SO…how do YOU show up?
As many people can get stuck with draining, catabolic energy, it is important to realize, recognize and shift ourselves to raise our energy levels and become more aware of our actions and choices. As a result of this shift to anabolic energy, we can be more capable of inspiring others, more open to innovation and possibility, and far better able to pursue goals and lead teams of people.
Your level of success as a leader and in life can be raised with awareness, understanding and knowledge of how to apply the various energy levels available to you. Your level of energy (consciousness) creates your world each moment. By altering your perceptions of yourself, your work, and those around you, you can create a more powerful, fulfilling, and rewarding life.
Let’s take a look at the 7 different levels of energy as written by Bruce D Schneider:
Level 1: Lack of choice. Victim energy. I can't. I have to. Fearful.
Level 2: Anger. Combativeness. Resisting or fighting energy.
Level 3: Rationalizing. Fine.
Level 4: Care. Compassion. Service to others.
Level 5: Reconciliation. Win-win. There’s no good or bad or right or wrong.
Level 6: Intuition. Creative genius. The space of brilliant visionaries.
Level 7: Complete passion for all aspects of life. Oneness.
We are affected internally and externally by different energies minute by minute and we can vary from each energy level based on our choices and how we respond and/or view certain situations. Each of these have advantages and disadvantages and can be consciously used to reach specific goals.
So, let me ask you again…how are YOU showing up?
Let’s acknowledge, validate, and then choose how to invest our energy so we can make a plan and adjust priorities in support of our NEW MONTH with personal and professional life goals.
“Take responsibility for the fact that you created everything in your life via your thoughts, beliefs, focus, actions, and energy and that you have the power to shift your mindset, raise your frequency, and create new things that will serve you better. Get out of your victim mode and into badass mode and be diligent about your mindset.”
