Working from home can be a daunting task for many. Not only is it different, its a challenge in many aspects. Are their distractions? Children? Spouse? How do you manage work time from home time? Do you feel like you are no longer "present" in the room? There are many anxieties that working from home bring, however, with everything in life, you can overcome these obstacles.
With many "how to work from home" articles out on the web, the one question I am asked often is how do you stay present? How do you keep your voice heard in the workplace?
Here are my three suggestions.
1.) Be vocal. Don't become a lost voice in a conference call crowd.
2.) Time Manage: You can't work a full straight 8 at home, with or without children, but you also don't want to end up work 12 hours every day. Strategize and manage your time to buckets of hours with goals for these time slots.
3.) Continue to innovate. No matter what your position is, use this unprecedented time to think about improvements. How can you position yourself to add more value to your company? Your department? Your industry etc.
Use the 'quiet' to focus, and become a leader.
